Arlene Sutliff Obituary

ROME – Arlene K. Sutliff, age 67, of Rome died quietly on May 17, 2022. Arlene was born July 24, 1954.  She attended and graduated from Grand Valley High School in 1972.  She was the daughter of Victor and Doreen (Crosby) Sutliff.  She was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula County except for a brief time in Chicago, Illinois. She attended the Rome Presbyterian Church.

Arlene never married.  She is survived by a brother, Ed, of Rome: a sister Doris of Parma; and a brother, Paul (Margaret) of West Farmington. Arlene also had five nephews and one niece; They are Jim (Ashley) Sutliff of Parma; the late John (Trisha) Sutliff; Jeri (Keith) Workman of Bristolville; Reed (Julie) Sutliff of Bazetta; Paul “Buck” (Jacinta) of Diamond, and Luke (Gretchen) of Newton Falls.  She is also survived by forty (40) great nephews and nieces.

Arlene loved animals and working on cars.  She is best known for raising AKC Shih tzus.

She was active with the Humane Society.

She was permanently disabled at the age of 19.  She had a long history of illnesses.  Arlene loved to laugh, and she always had a story to tell.

Throughout her life – she worked to assist the forgotten.  The poor, the abused, those released from prison, the sick, the homeless, the mentally challenged, the fatherless – she had a warm spot for any and all.

A memorial service will be held privately by the family.
