Barbara Watts Obituary

Barbara (Barb) Lenora Stewart Watts, 85, of Ashtabula, Ohio (formerly of Raleigh, NC), passed away peacefully on July 21, 2020 after beating COVID and beginning a brief battle with cancer. She was born on July 6, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of Harold and Gladys Stewart.

Barb grew up outside of Detroit. She beat polio and met the love of her life, Charlie, at just 16 years old. Her life with husband Charlie took her all over the U.S. As a homemaker and talented cook and baker, Barb made fast friends wherever she went. She was known for her delicious desserts and never letting anyone go hungry. Barb was active in her church and community. She was a dedicated member of the Assistance League of the Triangle Area (ALTA) for many years while living in North Carolina. Barb was a talented painter and loved spending time enjoying classes and painting many beautiful pieces for friends and family. She was a woman with so many stories from a life well lived, a friend to many, a dog lover, and cherished Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

She is survived by sons, Robert (Cindy) Watts of Florida and James (Ronda) Watts of North Carolina, grandchildren Jennifer (David) Beirau, William (Amanda) Watts, Kathleen Watts, Robert (Stephanie) Watts, Courtney Watts, and Connor Watts, great grandson Chase and great granddaughter Charlie Kate.

She was preceded in death by husband Charles in July 2015, son William in May 2020, and sister Nancy.

Due to Covid-19, no service will be held. Her family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her name to support Assistance League of the Triangle Area (ALTA). Donations may be sent by mail to Assistance League of the Triangle Area, P.O. Box 98477, Raleigh, NC 27624 or by visiting https://altriangle.org/funds-grants/donations/
