Janis Hall

Janis Bodnar Hall, 78, passed away on November 21, 2021, at Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula, Ohio.

She was born on August 29, 1943, in Grove City, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Joseph and Amanda M. (Baron) Bodnar.

Janis graduated from West Middlesex High School in 1961. Immediately following high school, she attended Mercyhurst University and graduated in 1965 with her bachelor’s degree in education. Janis continued with her education by attending Westminster College where she received her master’s degree in 1967. Janis attended Boston University and had accumulated thirty hours towards her PhD.

Janis’s was a teacher at West Middlesex Elementary School from 1965 to 1967; after receiving her master’s degree she became a guidance counselor for New Castle Union High School serving from 1967-1980. In 1980 she became the guidance counselor at Conneaut High School, she served one year as Dean of Students, she dedicated twenty-five years of service before retiring in 2005.

Janis married the love of her life, Terry L. Hall on July 15, 1978; together they shared forty-three wonderful years of marriage together.

Janis enjoyed collecting quilts, spending time with her mother going to flea markets and traveling all around the world with her husband. Janis was one of the founders of the “Conneaut Quilt Guild” and was one of the founding members of the St. Peter’s Fine Arts Committee; taking part in organizing the “Music without Barriers” program where musicians from all around the world come together to share their musical talents.

She is survived by her loving husband, Terry L. Hall, her aunt, Mary Kimbrough and her cousins: Joyce Richey, Eddie Kimbrough, Jill Fox, and Janet Holbrook.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

In honor of Janis’s wishes there will not be any public services.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center and Ashtabula Clinic for all the compassionate care they gave Janis over the years. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
