Lawrence Lexington Obituary

Lawrence Lexington

ASHTABULA-Larry Lexington, 70, passed away February 5, 2024.

He was born in Cleveland on November 3, 1953, the son of George Ivan Lexington and Dorothy (Smith) Lexington-Meeks.

He graduated from Lincoln West HS and immediately went on to volunteer and proudly serve his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was on the USS Goldsborough Destroyer, survived heavy combat, and received a Meritorious Unit Commendation.

He lived and worked in Cleveland until moving to Ashtabula Harbor in 2018 to be closer to Lake Erie and fulfilling his dream of owning his own home.

Larry enjoyed the Cleveland Indians/Guardians, playing the keyboard, his rose garden, music of all kinds, Superman, Big Chuck and Lil John, monster movies especially Godzilla movies, and he loved his Siamese cats. He had a really good heart; he may have had a hard time showing it to his family and friends at times, but he would always help anyone in need. He had a strong Christian faith, and he loved his country.

He is survived by his loving daughter Elizabeth (Brian) Vyhnalek; his grandchildren: Alexander and Elowyn; his sisters Laura Turner, Maria Admire, Melody Ross, sister-in-law Karen Lexington; and his nieces Tammy Lexington and Teri Lexington and their children; his dear friend and the mother of his only child, Karen Maxa; as well as many friends and fellow veterans. He also leaves behind his beloved cats Luey and Lucy, now loved, and cared for by his daughter and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother George.

To honor his memory, donations can be made to an animal shelter of your choice, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or the American Lung Association.
