Makaya Sherrell-Meredith Obituary

Makaya Raylene Sherrell Meredith passed away unexpectedly Friday April 22,2022 at Union Hospital in Dover. She was 35 years old.
She was born July 22, 1986 at Doctors Hospital in Massillon. Grew up and attended school in New Philadelphia, graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 2004. On July 17, 2021 she married her beloved husband Nicholas Meredith at Trinity Gospel Temple in Canton.
Makaya showed a passion for music and art at a very young age and carried it with her throughout her life, finding a love for dancing and performing with the color guard at her high school, and continuing into adulthood dancing and singing along with her daughter Jazzy and Trinity Gospel worship team. With a radiant smile and an infectious laugh she could always brighten the day with a quote from a funny movie or silly pop culture T.V. show. You couldn't be in her presence without smiling and laughing.
She is survived by her husband Nick; her daughter Jahzara Raylene Sherrell (Jazzy); parents Ray Todd Sherrell and Kim Adair Sherrell; mother in law Mary Barker; siblings LesLee Metcalf and Jamie (Brian) Sealock; grandmothers Iommiesene Sherrell (Sene) and DiAnne Reece along with two nieces, five nephews, several cousins and an impressive list of life long friends.
She is preceded in death by her best friend and grandfather, Reverand Willie Sherrell of Dover, Oh.
A celebration of life is being planned for this coming summer. A sunny day is only befitting to honor such a bright and shining soul. Friends and family will be notified when plans are finalized.
