Marlene Shaffer Obituary

Marlene Ann (Perkins) Shaffer, 82, passed away on January 16, 2024, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula, Ohio.

She was born on April 10, 1941, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of John and Gladys (Pierce) Perkins.

On June 30, 1958, Marlene married Filbert G. Shaffer, they shared more than fifty-seven wonderful years of marriage together until his passing in 2017.

Marlene was a homemaker who took great pride in creating and maintaining a beautiful home where she and Filbert raised their son.

Marlene was a dedicated, lifetime member of First Community Church of God in Ashtabula. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Christian Women’s Association.

She enjoyed crocheting, baking, everything, and anything Christmas. However, her true source of joy and happiness was being “MiMi” to her grandson and spending quality time making memories that will carry on for years after her passing.

She is survived by her son, Fil (Barb) Shaffer, Jr., her grandson, Dalton Shaffer and her siblings: Rebecca Jeffries, James Perkins, Evelyn Beeman, Tommy Perkins, Billy Perkins, Myrtle Welker and Gerald Perkins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her siblings: Charles Perkins, Lucille Perkins, Cynthia Keyes, Timothy Perkins and Bob Perkins.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 10:00a – 12:00p with a funeral service to follow at 12:00p at Czup Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Avenue in Ashtabula, Ohio. Burial to immediately follow the funeral service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Conneaut, Ohio.
