Maryjane Carleton

Maryjane (May) Carleton, 79, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2021 at Ashtabula County Medical Center.

She was born on October 12, 1941 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, the daughter of Eugene and Alice (Ware) May.

Maryjane graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1959. Following high school, she worked for the Star Beacon, then spent 30+ years working for Reliance Electric and lastly worked for Ziegler Heating before retiring. Maryjane married the love of her life, G. Thomas Carleton in 1985, together they celebrated 31 years of
marriage before his passing on April 3, 2016.

Maryjane was very social with a great sense of humor and she was much loved. Her humor and wit will be missed by all who knew her well. She had many interests and hobbies: she loved golf, reading, baking, playing cards, and doing a variety of crafts. She was a member of Eagleville Bible Church and enjoyed spending time with the Elderberries and serving. She also spent many afternoons eating lunch with her friends from the YMCA and Reliance Electric. Maryjane’s favorite holiday was Christmas where she enjoyed decorating and spending quality time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving children: Deborah (Kevin) McKnight, Steven (Erin) Arsulic and her step-son, Thomas (Chris) Carleton, her sister, Shirley (Ken) Armstrong, her grandchildren: Joshua, Steven, Gabriel, Jacob, Zach (Stephanie), Kayla (Mike), Stanley and her great-grandchild, Liam.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, G. Thomas Carleton, and her son, James Arsulic.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. at the Eagleville Bible Church, 1981 OH-45, Rock Creek, Ohio. Following the service there will be a luncheon for all of Maryjane’s family and friends. She will be laid to rest at Edgewood Cemetery in Ashtabula privately with her family.

Maryjane’s family would like to thank the staff and Physicians at the ACMC Cancer Center and her many devoted, loving friends and family who helped care for her in her battle with breast cancer.
