Norman Ross Obituary

Norman E. Ross, 94, formerly of Lyndon Avenue in Ashtabula passed away on July 14, 2021 in Vista Springs Assisted Living Center in Concord, Ohio.

“Stormin” Norman Ross was born on June 21, 1927, in Conneaut, Ohio to Blanche and Charles Ross.

He was a veteran of World War II and proudly served in the US Army.  Norman was employed with Rockwell International Break Plant in Saybrook Township for 37 years.  Later in his career he assisted Rockwell in transferring the inventory control process he implemented to Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Norman was a member of Mother of Sorrows Church, the Shamrock Club and was very active coaching and volunteering at Ashtabula Little League for many years.  Norman was an avid bowler and grew up working in a bowling alley where he learned a skill in working with wood and wooden floors.  He was also an avid follower of all Cleveland sports teams and The Ohio State Buckeyes.  Norman had been seen throughout the Harbor for many years walking his dogs, most recently Rusty.

Norman and his wife Gloria (DeMarco) were married on December 19, 1951 and were blessed with 62 years together until her passing in 2013.  He loved watching and supporting his sons and grandchildren in their many different sporting events and other activities.  Norman was always very proud that all four of his sons graduated from college.

Surviving Norman are his sons: Curtiss (Jodie) Ross of Concord, Ohio; Michael (Barbara) Ross of Sherman Oaks, California; Gary (Vicky) Ross of Columbus, Ohio; and Gregory Ross of Ashtabula.  Also by his grandchildren: Brian, Christine, Laura, Jami, Tyler, and Rylee; his great-grandchildren: Ashton, Gloriana, Elizabeth and James; as well as his sister Evelyn Baugher of Georgia.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Gloria and his sister Gloria.

In honor of Norman’s wishes a private graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery.  Contributions in his name can be made to Mother of Sorrow’s Church or St. John School.
